EV Granted! Kia EV3 and EV4 Motion get £1,500 price cut thanks to the UK Govt

The Kia EV3 and EV4 now start from £31,555 and £33,245 respectively thanks to the ECG

The Kia EV3 small SUV and the Kia EV4 hatchback have received a modest, yet nonetheless welcome price cut. Both cars now qualify for the £1,500 Band 2 Government Electric Car Grant, with the latter car receiving a new trim level in the process.

The Kia EV3 is eligible for the ECG in both 270-mile, 58.3kWh Standard Range, and 375-mile, 81.4kWh Extended Range guise. Pricing now starts from just £31,555 for the entry-spec Air Standard Range, with the GT-Line Extended Range costing £37,995; the range-topping GT-Line S is priced beyond the £42,000 threshold to get the grant and is thus now significantly more expensive by comparison at £43,055 - even without the optional £900 heat pump.

Admittedly, the Kia EV4 has quietly qualified for the ECG since December 2025 in entry-level Air spec with either the 273-mile, 58.3kWh Standard Range or the 388-mile, 81.4kWh Extended Range battery configurations. However the latter is now available in a more generously-equipped ‘Motion’ specification.

The Kia EV4 Motion Long Range starts from £38,995 and is only being offered in hatchback form; those wanting to benefit from the EV Grant with a saloon will have to stick with the Air trim.

Motion cars are designed to sit between the GT-Line and GT-Line S in terms of overall specification, but instead has the more subdued styling cues of the base Air. Standard equipment includes an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, model-specific part-leatherette upholstery, an electric driver’s seat, heated rear seats, blind spot monitoring and a 360-degree camera.

You might be wondering why the Kia EV4 GT Line doesn’t also receive the grant given that it comes with the same sub-£37k Extended Range powertrain as the other trims and is priced under the £42,000 maximum threshold for the ECG. Kia says it’s because the model has larger wheels, which feature a higher homologated rolling resistance, unlike the Motion which shares its wheels with the Air. The same goes for the GT Line S, although this costs from almost £44,000 and is thus over the aforementioned maximum list price to receive the grant.
