Nissan Juke-R official pictures

We have the first official pictures of the new Nissan GT-R powered 520bhp Super Juke

Nissan Juke-R

This new 480bhp Nissan Juke is faster than a Porsche 911. The one-off crossover is powered by the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 as found in the 2010 Nissan GT-R.

The extreme four-wheel-drive Juke-R will sprint from 0-62mph in four seconds and go on to a top speed close to 170mph. That compares to eight seconds and 134mph in the 1.6-litre DiG-T – the fastest model in the current Juke range.

Our first official pictures of the car – taken inside Nissan’s European technical centre in Cranfield, Beds – clearly shows the anthracite grey GT-R alloy wheels and high-performance brake calipers. A strengthening FIA specification racing roll cage has also been added to give sharper cornering, and the Juke's standard cabin has been stripped out in favour of a pair of racing bucket seats.

The standard dashboard has been altered to accomodate the dials and 7-inch colour display from the GT-R, which can display everything from lap times and telemetry to cornering g-forces. The project has been undertaken for Nissan by motorsport specialist firm RML, with input from the brand's European technical centre.

When it’s finished, the Juke-R will get an aggressive new look to match its supercar performance. The ride height will be dramatically reduced, plus there will be full carbon fibre bodykit, a set of cooling vents in the bonnet and a split rear spoiler.

A Nissan spokesperson confirmed to Auto Express that the car – known internally as the Super Juke – is only a technical study at this stage, and just two working examples will be built, to help gauge public reaction. However as both cars will be fully road legal, watch this space for a first drive in the near future.

Illegal bad practice

I'm shocked to see the gentleman welding with no mask or gloves in an interior layed out with plastic parts, trim and steering wheel in place. This is shockingly bad practice that, at best could result in a fire and, at worst, a major industrial injury. And Nissan have chosen to release the evidence to the world's press for the record. Absolutely dumbfounded.

Agree entirely with you 'dillinghamp' also, why do this to a four door car. I can never understand welding up the back doors. Use a two door in the first place!

@dillinghamp

The guy in the picture is not Welding anything, he is using a grinder, and he has the correct eye protection for that job.

Although i do agree they should put some sort of protective cover over the interior plastics.

Goodness, you're right!

Heavens above, you're right, it's an angle grinder... I do apologise, the gentleman has the correct eye protection. But no ear defenders, then......?

Ear Defenders

Are personal prefrence (i may be wrong), i dont think they are requried by law.

No Joke on the Juke any more.

So many car companies play it safe go green. Nice to see an R & D centre being outrageous and as for the rest of you playing spot the incorrect way to use a power tool. All very interesting but last time I checked the website is for car enthusiast get a free copy of machine mart to drool over , the engineer obviously knows what he’s doing as he as just built a custom juke from scratch. Well done to Nissan carry on making something different and fun!!

600bhp anyone

Just like the GTR a 10 minuite reflash and roadtest will see 600bhp

No we are talking

There hasn't really been a car to compete on all levels i.e price , performance and practicality since the Subaru Impreza Turbo's from the early 90's onwards. I think in this mad Nissan Juke we have at last found a successor. What a fantastic bit of engineering. Eventually the seconhand price will come down to sensible prices for the masses. I just cant wait . Thankyou Nissan and keep building it.
