Range Rover SDV6 Vogue SE - Best diesels
The Range Rover mixes incredible refinement with go anywhere off-road capability, especially with the V6 diesel

This current generation of Range Rover is built on an aluminium shell, saving a whopping 420kg over the previous generation. Despite the extreme weight loss, the Range Rover clearly remains a heavy car but the entry-level 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel will still get 31.5mpg on a combined cycle (WLTP tested).
The SDV6 is a torquey motor too, it’ll propel the two-tonne SUV from 0-62mph in a respectable 7.9 seconds. More importantly, it provides it with 254bhp at 4,000rpm and 600Nm from just 2,000rpm - ideal for towing big loads.
The diesel options make the most sense with the Range Rover not least because of the V8 petrol’s huge thirst. But as you’d expect, the Range Rover manages to suppress engine noise whatever engine you spec and it is remarkably refined on the move.
