People carrier picks

Renault Scenic, Peugeot 3008 vs Citroen C4 Picasso, SEAT Altea (Issue 1,077)

auto express

The compact MPV class is dominated by French manufacturers, and the arrival of two new cars looked set to strengthen their stranglehold on the market.

We tested the Renault Scenic and Peugeot 3008 against established rivals, in the shape of the Citroen C4 Picasso and SEAT Altea. In the end, the newcomers enjoyed mixed fortunes. The Scenic took top honours, as the latest model built on the firm’s already impressive MPV heritage.

But the all-new 3008 came last. Our team felt it would be much more tempting if viewed as a practical alternative to a conventional family hatchback, rather than an out-and-out people carrier.
