Lexus LF-Ch
The premium hatchback market will face a major shake-up when Lexus introduces its hybrid LF-Ch hatch in late 2010. With striking looks and an innovative powertrain, class leaders such as the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series will be given something to think about. With the option for all-electric driving, the new Lexus – which was previewed at the Frankfurt Motor Show – offers something that no other car in the segment can deliver. When it reaches production, power will come from a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine that, with the assistance of the electric motor, produces 187bhp. The LF-Ch will be more expensive than its big name rivals at around £18,000, but it should still offer decent value for money, thanks to its low running costs.
