The Ford Transit was a combination of two older vehicles – the German Taunus Transit and the British Thames 400E van shown here in 1954.

The first generation Ford Transit was launched in 1965.

A 2006 Ford Transit

Milestone: 2010 – the sixth millionth Ford Transit was delivered to a German fleet customer on 7th June 2010. Bernard Mattes, chairman of Ford Germany, handed over the keys to Markus Liestmann, fleet manager of Mobil Sport and Öff

Milestone: 2013 – Ford produced its seven millionth Transit on 20th June 2013at the official opening of a new Transit assembly plant in Nanchang, China.
