Limited edition Lexus LC Hokkaido launched for 2022

Latest Lexus LC special edition pays homage to Japan’s Hokkaido island

Lexus has unveiled a new, ultra-limited ‘Hokkaido Edition’ version of its LC sports car. Exclusively available in European markets, just 80 examples of the special machine will be up for grabs, split evenly between coupe and convertible body styles.

Taking its name and inspiration from Japan’s volcanic Hokkaido island, the special edition model receives a few touches to help it stand out from regular versions of the firm’s flagship sports car.

Four colours are available, Flare Red, Sonic Platinum, F White or Graphite. It also gets unique 21 inch alloy wheels and an exclusive black signature front grille. The convertible’s fabric roof can be specified with either a  red or black finish.

Only one interior trim is available - an eye-catching asymmetrical two-tone finish. The driver is surrounded by dark rose red leather that covers the transmission, door trim and steering wheel surround, while the front seat passenger area gets a more subtle black theme.

While the Hokkaido Edition does not appear to get the fixed boot spoiler seen on last year’s ‘Black Inspiration’ model, it should benefit from the suspension, software and safety improvements announced for the LC’s 2022 update.

Performance promises to be unchanged over the standard car, as the engine choices remain the same, with either a 354bhp 3.5-litre V6 hybrid mated to a CVT gearbox, or a 471bhp 5.0-litre V8 that drives a conventional automatic transmission.

The LC Hokkaido Edition will go on sale in Europe from April 2022.
