New Renault Trafic Black Edition revealed

Special version of the Renault Trafic hits the road with black wheels and extra standard equipment

This is the Renault Trafic Black Edition, a new special trim level for Renault’s popular mid-size van. It’ll be available to order from April 2020 in both Panel and Crew van body styles with pre-VAT prices starting from £27,950.

The Black Edition is set apart from the rest of the Trafic range by a range of small styling changes exclusive to the model. The most obvious comes from the black alloy wheels, which match the gloss black front grille, black Renault logo and unique side graphics. The side mouldings are body-coloured, and there are four paint colours to choose from Urban Grey, Mercury, Glacier White and Jet Black.

Those who want to toughen up the look further can do that with an optional body kit consisting of a lower front bumper, side skirts and a rear spoiler.

Extra standard kit over the regular Trafic includes a reversing camera and climate control, which complements improved standard kit levels introduced for a 2019 facelift. Other features include full-LED headlights and an updated infotainment system that features built-in satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

There are two diesel engines to choose from. Both are 2.0-litre units producing either 143bhp or 168bhp. In official tests, the 143bhp model achieves 52.3mpg and emits 188g/km of CO2, while the more powerful version manages 51.4mpg and 187g/km.

Would you choose the Trafic over a Transit? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below...
