Auto Express commercial content

What ‘Advertisement Feature’, 'In association with' and ‘Partnership’ content labelling on Auto Express means for you...

Auto Express is the UK’s most popular car magazine and website, dedicated to showing you the very best from the world of cars. We, of course, have to pay for the industry-leading words, pictures and video you enjoy on our channels and the revenue to cover that comes partly through advertising.

You’ll see advertising in the pages of our weekly print magazine and on our website. Occasionally you’ll also see commercial content that has been produced with external partners to bring you information on their latest products or services.

We want to be completely transparent when it comes to advertising and commercial content on Auto Express, making sure that our readers always understand exactly the nature of the content they’re consuming. That’s why we’ve created a clear labelling structure to guide you.

Commercial content

There are three kinds of commercial content labels that you may encounter on Auto Express. In all cases the content will be clearly labelled so you understand exactly what it is.

1. Advertisement Feature

Advertisement Features are paid for by one of our external partners and that partner has final sign-off and control over any words, pictures and video contained within. Advertisement Features on Auto Express will be clearly labelled as such, on the page itself and on any links pointing to that page. They may also appear with ‘Advertisement feature from…’ labelling on the page itself with a brand logo to show which brand has paid to produce the content.

2. In association with…

Content marked as ‘In association with…’ a particular brand on Auto Express is editorial content that a commercial partner has paid to be associated with. The words, pictures and/or video are produced and published independently according to the high editorial standards always maintained by our editorial team. The brand associated with the content has no influence on the creation process.

3. Partnership

We use ‘Partnership’ branding on Auto Express where we have partnered with an external brand to bring tools, features or benefits to our readers that would not otherwise be possible. These might be our ‘sell your car’ or car insurance comparison tools or opportunities to book test drives directly with manufacturers through our site. We carefully select partners based on the value of the service they can offer and our usual high editorial standards apply at all times.

Editorial content

All content on Auto Express that is not labelled as Advertisement Feature or Partnership is independent editorial. Advertisers may pay to place advertising alongside our content and it may even appear alongside commercial content in sponsored hub pages, but if there is no commercial content label, it’s just the Auto Express team as usual, aiming to inform and entertain our readers in a totally independent way.
