New Skoda Elroq electric SUV set for 2024 debut

The next stage of Skoda’s EV expansion is nearly ready with the Elroq SUV due to slot in below the Enyaq next year

Skoda has confirmed that its new all-electric Skoda Elroq SUV will arrive in 2024, leading a charge of three more new Skoda EVs due by 2026. The new, smaller SUV model will be built on the same MEB construction as the Enyaq, and will introduce a new generation of Skoda design language that will also be adopted by Skoda’s other forthcoming EVs.

The new Elroq will be built on VW’s MEB platform, sharing much of its front structure and general proportions with the Enyaq. To reduce its size, length will be taken out of the rear overhang, giving the new model a footprint of around 4.5 metres – positioning it between the Enyaq and Skoda’s combustion-powered Karoq

Due to the electric platform, space inside will be closer to that of the Enyaq, with lots of rear seat space, a completely flat floor and sizable boot.

The Elroq will also be the first production car to introduce the ‘Modern Solid’ design language previewed on the Skoda Vision 7S concept, a look that will be adopted across the forthcoming EV range, as well as in updated versions of the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe in 2025.

This new era of design is being led by Skoda’s design chief Oliver Stefani, and features a cleaner and more sophisticated style that drops the crystal glass detailing of its current models. The new upright headlights are more compact, while the traditional grille has been replaced entirely by a gloss black trim element.

The Skoda interior is also due a big makeover in the Elroq, with a new dashboard design featuring a portrait-oriented screen likely to be borrowed from the 7S Concept. Despite the VW Group’s habit of removing all physical switchgear, Skoda will buck the trend by continuing to use of rotary dials for the air conditioning controls, as well as key shortcut buttons and a physical volume switch.

The Elroq will be revealed next year, spearheading Skoda’s ambitious EV model expansion set to include the aforementioned 7S concept, as well as a new smaller SUV model and an all-electric estate.
