Sporty VW T-Roc R-Line and Tiguan Allspace R-Line models join the range

Two sportier looking Volkswagen SUVs have arrived on sale in the UK in the shape of the T-Roc and Tiguan Allspace R-Line models

Volkswagen has extended both the T-Roc and Tiguan Allspace line-ups in the UK with the introduction of sporty looking R-Line trim cars. Both are on sale now.

Four new variants are available for the T-Roc – the firm’s smallest and newest SUV. A 148bhp 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG automatic hits the market, with a more powerful 2.0-litre TSI unit offering 187bhp and a DSG gearbox as standard sitting above it. That 2.0-litre petrol engine comes with 4MOTION all-wheel-drive, as does the sole diesel currently available, the 148bhp 2.0 TDI unit with a six-speed manual gearbox.

T-Roc R-Line cars ride on 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, while exterior styling is reshaped thanks to a sporty bodykit and a body coloured roof spoiler. Sports suspension lowers the ride height ever so slightly too.

Inside you’ll find chrome R-Line door sill inserts, aluminium pedals, and a flat-bottomed R-Line steering wheel. Prices start from £26,450 for the 1.5-litre TSI car with a manual gearbox.

The Tiguan Allspace R-Line gets the same sporty revisions as the shorter wheelbase Tiguan R-Line. 20-inch alloy wheels are standard fit, as is a sport suspensions setup that can be customised with optional Dynamic Chassis Control. Two 2.0-litre TDI diesel powertrains are offered, one boasting 148bhp and the other 187bhp. The 187bhp unit arrives with a DSG gearbox and all-wheel-drive as standard, while the 148bhp unit can be had with or without both an automatic transmission and the 4MOTION system. Prices start at £35,440.
