Car Deal of the Day: Aion V offers very good range and space for just £229 a month

Aion is a new brand that has appeared in the UK in recent months, and just like those other newcomer Chinese marques, it’s seeking to grab your attention by offering a lot for not much cash.
The Aion V is a Volkswagen ID.4-sized electric SUV that comes with high equipment levels, a very competitive range, and plenty of interior space. And it's currently being offered for just £229 a month through the Auto Express Buy A Car service.
This deal comes from Octopus Electric Vehicles and is for two years. It requires £2,748 to be put down as a 12-month initial payment, while mileage is capped at 5,000 a year.
You can save around £500 by opting for a nine-month initial payment, which sees the monthly outlay rise to £255, while nudging the mileage limit to 8,000 can be done for under £20 a month extra.
There's just one powertrain on offer in the V for the time being. At 75.3kWh, the battery is claimed to give 317 miles of range, while a front-mounted electric motor gives a modest 204bhp.
Speed and handling prowess aren't really the Aion V's calling card. Instead, it focuses on a hushed driving experience that's stress-free – and it executes this very well.
Even more impressive is the Aion V's standard equipment list. This deal gets you the entry-level model, but even this comes with heated seating front and rear, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade, a 14.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, and wireless phone charging.
Cabin quality is noticeably plush, while interior space is positively enormous. Rear passengers can really stretch out thanks to tons of legroom, while the 427-litre boot offers decent space for the class.
