Car Deal of the Day: Volkswagen Multivan MPV offers tons of space for a tiny £303 per month

SUVs may have replaced MPVs as the go-to choice for families in need of a lot of space, but this outstanding offer we found via the Auto Express Buy A Car service for a plug-in hybrid version of the highly versatile, seven-seat Volkswagen Multivan may make you reconsider the humble minibus. 

Skyfleet Car Leasing is offering a two-year lease on the Multivan eHybrid for only £303 per month – half the price of the next cheapest deal available for this impressive MPV. 

The offer requires an initial payment of £3,637, which represents a year’s worth of monthly payments. But it’s possible to reduce the outlay to the equivalent of just one month’s payment, and you’ll only pay £455 per month thereafter. That’s more than for some versions of a Ford Kuga, for example.

If you want more for your money, you can get the same Multivan eHybrid on a three-year lease from £375 per month, while four-year deals start from £408 per month. 

As standard, there’s an annual mileage limit of 5,000, which should be enough if you only need to use the Multivan to take the kids to school. But if you intend to go on a few weekend camping trips throughout the year, upping the allowance to 10,000 miles only costs £13 extra a month. 

The plug-in hybrid powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol and a six-speed automatic gearbox with an electric motor, fed by a 19.7kWh battery that provides up to 56 miles of pure-electric driving range. Plug this PHEV MPV in regularly, and you could see more than 100mpg. Plus, with 245bhp on tap, it’ll do 0-62mph in 8.9 seconds. 

The attraction of an MPV has always been the versatility on offer, and the Multivan has it in abundance. But VW has combined it with the premium appeal of its passenger cars, so quality, on-board tech and refinement are all impressive. 

The Life model included in this deal may be the entry-level version, but still features a 10.25-inch ‘digital cockpit’ driver’s display and 10-inch central infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. On top of that, there’s adaptive cruise control, a rear view camera, LED headlights, sliding rear doors on both sides, 18-inch alloy wheels and plenty more driver-assistance functions.
