Bugatti Chiron SuperSport 300+ makes public debut at LA Motor Show

All 30 examples of Bugatti's record-breaking, 300mph-plus Chiron SuperSport have now been sold

Bugatti has shown off its record-breaking Chiron SuperSport 300+ in public for the first time at the 2019 Los Angeles Motor Show. The brand recently became the first manufacturer to break the 300mph barrier when an upgraded version of the Chiron set a top speed of 304.77mph at the Ehra-Lessien proving ground in Germany.

To celebrate the record, the French hypercar manufacturer has produced 30 road-going examples of the car, badged as the Bugatti Chiron SuperSport 300+. The production-ready Chiron SuperSport 300+ is powered by a tuned version of the original car’s quad-turbo 8.0-litre W16 engine, producing 1,578bhp – around 100bhp more than standard. It also comes with a lowered suspension system, uprated brakes, a new set of lightweight magnesium-alloy wheels and a tweaked quad-exit exhaust system.

The world’s fastest production cars

The Chiron SuperSport 300+ shares the same aerodynamic upgrades as the record-setting prototype. Revisions include a heavily ducted front bumper, wider side skirts, new vents on the wings to release excess air pressure from the front wheel arches and an extended, clip-on tail with a more aggressive diffuser.

The body is made from exposed carbon fibre and finished with a pair of “Jet Orange” racing stripes – the traditional colour for Bugatti’s most potent hypercars. The engine cover is also made from carbon fibre, as is the front windscreen wiper, while “SuperSport 300+”-branded LED puddle lighting features at the door opening.

The Chiron SuperSport 300+’s interior is far more plush than the prototype’s stripped-out affair. It features a pair of Alcantara-trimmed carbon-fibre-backed bucket seats, a carbon- fibre dashboard and a full complement of carpets and sound-deadening. Its rear-view mirror is painted in Beluga Black, while its interior trim has a black anodised finish.

Production-ready Chiron SuperSport 300+ models won't share the same top speed as the record-breaking prototype, with Bugatti limiting customer cars to 275mph. The current record holder for production vehicles is the Koenigsegg Agera RS with the Swedish supercar set an average speed of 277.9mph over two separate runs in 2017.

Prices for the Bugatti Chiron SuperSport 300+ start from €3.5 million (around £3.1 million) and all 30 examples have now been accounted for, first deliveries are expected by summer 2021.
