Hybrid Nurburgring test for F1 ace

Williams driver Nico Hulkenberg puts 911 GT3 Hybrid through its paces on legendary German track

The countdown to the Nurburgring 24-hour race continues. In preparation for the event which kicks off on May15th, Porsche invited Williams F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg to put its new hybrid 911 racer to the test on the Nordschleife.

And after three trouble-free laps, the German star clearly enjoyed the experience, concluding that it’s a "great car, fascinating technology and an incomparable track." Porsche’s factory drivers will drive the hybrid in a full-on assault on the 24-hour race.

In preparation for the event, as well as Hulkenberg’s test, the car has been raced in the VLN endurance races. Against top competition from BMW, Audi and a number of other conventionally-powered Porsches, the hybrid’s best finish is 3rd overall.
