Air-conditioning used to be regarded as a luxury, but it’s now an essential piece of kit on everything from city cars to limousines. 

In reality, few new models come without air-con these days, and the saving you’ll make by omitting it isn’t worthwhile. Not only will you have to endure scorching cabin temperatures in the summer, but your car will be much harder to sell on once you’ve finished with it.

Better still, air-con helps in the winter, too. As it effectively takes the moisture out of the air inside, you’ll find your windows remain mist-free in cold and damp conditions.
