More efficient engines for Dacia range

Dacia tweaks engines in all of its models for efficiency and performance, plus new petrol unit for Duster SUV

Dacia has announced a raft of revisions to its entire engine range in order to improve efficiency. The changes see a reduction in CO2 emissions, and comply with imminent Euro6 regulations for cleaner engines.

The most notable change is for the Duster budget SUV, which is now available with a brand new 1.6-litre petrol engine. Producing 114bhp and 156Nm of torque, the new 1.6-litre 115 unit is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive guises. Both come with stop-start as standard, which helps emissions fall to 155g/km and 145g/km for the 4WD and 2WD models respectively.

Fuel economy is 41.5mpg for the 4WD and 44.2mpg for the 2WD, with tax of just £180 and £145 respectively - and both versions get a reduction in company car tax, too.

You can specify the Duster with its new engine on entry-level Access (£9,495) and mid-spec Ambiance (£10,495), costing an extra £2,000 to make it an all-wheel-drive model.

Other improvements to the Dacia range include a torque and efficiency boost for the 1.5-litre dCi 110 diesel, with 20Nm extra torque and mpg boosted to 64.2mpg. The dCI 90 unit found in the Sandero and Logan MCV also gets tweaks to improve economy from 74.2mpg to 80.2mpg and CO2 emissions down to 90g/km.

The 900cc TCe turbo petrol also gets similar revisions to marginally boost torque, emissions and economy. All engines are available to order now, and prices across the range remain unchanged.
