New Maserati MC Edition trim launched for Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte

Built to celebrate the firm's racing history, each Maserati MC Edition is offered with a V8-engine

Maserati has launched a special MC Edition (that’s “Maserati Corse”) trim for the Ghibli and Quattroporte saloons and the Levante SUV. The specification celebrates the firm’s racing legacy, and will be available to order on all three cars later this month.

Prices haven’t yet been confirmed, although Maserati has announced that its MC Edition trim will only be offered with its V8-engined cars in Europe. That should place the specification towards the top of each model’s line-up.

MC Edition cars get a range of styling tweaks, including piano black trim, blue brake calipers and an exclusive badge for the rear wings and B-pillar. There’s also a choice of two model specific paint finishes, called Giallo Corse and Blue Vittoria, which were picked to honour the colours of Maserati’s home town of Modena.

Buyers also get some new gloss black alloy wheels, which differ slightly according to the model. The Levante MC Edition gets 22-inch alloys, while the Ghibli and Quattroporte get 21-inch alloys. The exterior tweaks are rounded off by an electrically opening sunroof.

Inside, every MC Edition model gets blue carbon fibre trim, a premium Bowers and Wilkins surround sound system and a unique badge for the centre console. Buyers also get a full complement of driver assistance technology

The upholstery is also specific to the MC Edition – and it’s a little unusual. The seats have been trimmed in a heavy metal blend of black leather and denim, while the panels are stitched together with yellow and blue thread. The headrests have also been embroidered with the company’s MC Edition badging.

All three cars will be fitted with Maserati’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 in the brand’s flagship Trofeo specification. That means all three models will have an output of 572bhp and 730Nm of torque. It’s enough power to propel the fastest car in the range, the Ghibli, from 0–62mph in 4.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 203mph.
