New S Edition trim added to Renault Captur range

New style focused trim level adds a bit of flair to ageing Renault Captur crossover, which will be replaced next year

Renault has released an additional trim-line to the Renault Captur crossover, as it looks towards the model’s replacement in 2020.

Called Captur S Edition, it’s a new mid-range specification borrowing its standard equipment from the Iconic-grade Captur, but introducing a number of new styling details inside and out.

On the outside, the Captur S Edition features lower door accents and front and rear skidplates finished in gunmetal grey, while it rides on a set of exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels too.

More in-depth changes are found in the cabin, and the Captur S Edition features Alcantara upholstery. The seats are fully finished in the material, and trimmed with red stitching. The infotainment display also features red detailing, while the Captur S Edition also features aluminium pedals. 

Standard equipment includes electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, automatic emergency braking, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment display featuring navigation, Bluetooth and DAB radio, plus built in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Automatic climate control and rear parking sensors are also included.

The Captur S Edition is available with three powertrains. The sole diesel option is the dCi 90, using a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine developing 89bhp. Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard and priced from £19,785, a five-speed automatic is also offered.

Petrol options comprise of the 1.3-litre 128bhp TCe 130 model, which gets a six-speed manual gearbox and starts from £19,625. The same 1.3-litre engine is used in the TCe 150, developing 148bhp and equipped with a six-speed automatic gearbox as standard. This version of the Captur S Edition is pried from £21,565.
