SsangYong Musso pick-up gains new, longer Saracen+ variant

The SsangYong Musso gains Saracen+ models with 12 inches of extra load length

Could this be the last new SsangYong we get? The Korean firm has announced revisions to its Musso pick-up ahead of a planned rebrand to KG Mobility later his year, under new ownership.

The revisions for 2023 include new equipment and styling details across the line-up, but the big news is the inclusion of a new version with a longer pick-up bed, boasting greater carrying capacity than before.

The new SsangYong Musso Saracen+ version features an additional 12-inches of bed length. The elongated model still uses the same chassis and running gear as regular versions of the Musso, with the extension found beyond the truck’s rear axle.

Alongside the new carrying capacity, the Saracen+ (and indeed the regular Saracen version of the Musso) comes with black finished door mirrors, and black detailing on the beltline and tailgate finisher. Newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels finished in black are also included.

As for equipment, all Saracen versions of the Musso come with Nappa leather seats with power adjustment and heating/ventilation, plus heated rear seats too. Dual zone automatic climate control is also included. Infotainment is covered by a 9.2-inch touchscreen display with TomTom navigation, while driver aids include cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring and detection, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.

Elsewhere, the EX version remains the entry-level offering, with newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and a DAB audio/Bluetooth radio. Automatic headlights and wipers are included.

The mid-range Musso Rebel builds on EX by adding an 8-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A reversing camera is added, alongside man-made leather upholstery and heated and ventilated front seats. The steering wheel is also heated.

All versions of the Musso are powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine producing 199bhp and 441Nm of torque, allied to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission depending on equipment grade. Prices for the revised Musso line-up begin from £25,140 before VAT.
