New 2023 Volkswagen Touareg facelift on sale now: prices, specs and full details

Volkswagen’s premium SUV, the Touareg, is now on sale with prices from under £68,000

With a starting price tag of £67,640, the new facelifted Volkswagen Touareg has received a raft of updates as it goes up against perennial rivals such as the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE. With five different powertrains available in petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid form, the premium SUV is available to order, with full specifications and pricing now released.

Starting with the cosmetic updates, the Touareg facelift is pretty comprehensive. Sporting a new grille, bumper and newly developed IQ.Light HD LED matrix headlights, the large SUV features a more aggressive look. The rear gets a full-width light bar and illuminated VW badge while fresh wheel designs up to 22 inches in size are now available.

The new Touareg will feature VW’s latest ‘Innovision Cockpit’ hardware and software including lane-level navigation and a high-resolution HD map. Voice control has also been updated, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now wireless.

Other gadgetry includes a powered tailgate, heated front seats, rear parking camera, keyless go and adaptive cruise control. The innovative technology on the car also includes high-tech options such as Trailer Assist for manoeuvring with a trailer, the Area View 360-degree birds eye camera and roof load sensors for increased agility when carrying a roof box. The interior has also received an upgrade for added comfort on longer journeys, including new door panels made of foamed material.

The VW Touareg is available in Elegance, Black Edition and a hot Touareg R versions with five powertrains, all of which are based on 3.0-litre V6s. The diesel TDI comes with 227bhp or 282bhp, while the pure-petrol has 335bhp. Two petrol hybrids are also offered, one with 376bhp and the other with 455bhp, although that’s reserved for the flagship Touareg R, which costs around £80,370. The suspension has also been revamped to allow an even greater levels of comfort on all types of terrain. The Touareg is now available to order in the UK.
