The sleek but spacious BMW 3 Series GT has made its debut at the Geneva show

The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo – a hatchback version of the all-conquering BMW 3 Series – has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

It is the third member of the 3 Series line up and boasts the biggest boot of the lot. The 3 GT has a 520-litre boot – bigger than the 3 Series Touring by 25 litres – that can be expanded to 1,600 litres in its largest load-carrying configuration, although the car doesn’t have any space to carry a spare wheel.

It gets the same range of engines as the saloon, including the entry-level 320i and mega 302bhp 335i, as well as the fast-but-frugal 320d. It gets a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an eight-speed automatic can be specified as a cost option.

It goes on sale in the summer and will cost from £28,830 for a base-spec 320i. The flagship 335i in Modern trim will set you back £38,470.

Trust the unmitigated arrogance of BMW. This is no more than a boring bog standard hatch! Yet BMW have the wank and gaul to call it a GT. its many years since BMW could be considered any sort of 'leader', and merely and slavishly now only 'follow'. Imagine the screams and uproar if Opel/Vauxhall/GM called any of their 4 door hatches GT's. They'd be laughed out of the ring. Not sucked in one little bit, and comically BMW must be choking on the likes of cars from Audi, legitimately stealing sales, and UNLIKE BMW, also growing the cake. BMW couldnt grow mould in a cheese factory, and now resort to the most unsavoury amoral methods to shift their average metal.

Why such bile? You really need to get a life.

Calm down, dear - it's only marketing
