The BMW M3 is taking on the competition with a host of updates for the 2011 model year. For those who like their M3s as hard and fast as possible, a new Competition Pack is available on the Coupe variant.
Featuring a 10 millimetre reduction in ride height, lightweight alloy wheels and a revised stability control, it's not quite the successor to the last-generation M3 CSL fans were hoping for, but it should sharpen up the M3's dynamics nonetheless. A carbon-fibre front apron can also be specified, while a carbon spoiler can be fitted by dealers to beef up the M3's looks.
When the revised M3 goes on sale in the Spring, all models - that means the Saloon, Coupe and Convertible - will feature an engine stop-start function. Fuel consumption is boosted to 25.2mpg on the combined cycle, an eight per cent improvement, while CO2 emissions are cut by 24g/km.
