Abarth 595 and 695 updated for 2022

Hot hatch maker Abarth has revised its entire line-up

Fiat’s performance sub brand, Abarth, has unveiled its updated 2022 line-up. Since the Mazda MX-5-derived Abarth 124 Spider went off sale in 2019, the Abarth range has consisted of the Fiat 500-based 595 and 695, so this new update represents the entirety of the Abarth range.

The entry-level 595 can be optioned as a more style-focused Turismo, or F595 – which adds a few performance tweaks. The range-topping 695 is also available with the Turismo package or the even sportier Competizione.

Starting from £21,295 for the 595, Abarth has retained its turbocharged 163bhp 1.4 four-cylinder, so 0-62mph stands at 7.3 seconds with the manual transmission or 7.4 seconds for the five-speed sequential automatic ’box. Both will reach a 135mph top speed.

The Abarth 595 comes as standard with 16-inch wheels, a double chrome exhaust, stainless-steel pedals, flat-bottom steering wheel and Koni rear suspension.

Upgrade to the £22,295 F595 and you’ll get a titanium Monza Sovrapposto exhaust system with vertically stacked quad pipes, automatic climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels and a special F595 badge paying homage to Formula 4 - where Abarth supplies its engines.

The more potent 695 comes with the same powertrain as the 595 but tuned to 177bhp and 250Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds and a 140mph top speed.

Starting from £24,495, it goes further with Koni FSD shock absorbers all around and beefier front four-piston Brembo calipers with 305mm front discs. In Competizione form, you’ll get Sabelt seats with red stitching and a carbon shell, and the choice of a mechanical limited slip differential or the robotised sequential gearbox with steering wheel paddles.

An option exclusive to the 695 is the ‘Racing Style Pack’ which adds a 12-way adjustable rear spoiler to improve aerodynamic load by up to 42 kilograms at 124mph.

Fiat’s 7-inch touchscreen, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sits in the middle of the dash throughout the range. Every trim level can also be specced as a ‘C’ convertible, which adds an extra £2,650 over the hatchback models.
