Sony BDP-SX1

Price: £299.99 Style: Clamshell/tablet Screen size: 10-inch Contact: 0845 6000124, www.sony.co.uk

Price holds the massive Sony back in this test, but it’s a feature-packed player. You can rotate the screen and fold it back, it had the best picture quality here and it’s the only package that can play high-definition Blu-Ray discs. The monster BDP-SX1 also has an impressive battery life – five hours when away from the mains – and it’s well put together. However, for this price, we’d have liked a mounting system, case and couple of pairs of headphones for each of the jacks on the side of the device.
