Being the home show for the German car industry, the big German brands always bring out something special at Frankfurt.

The eagerly anticipated Audi A3 Cabriolet will be revealed at the show, ahead of its launch next spring. Based on the new A3 saloon launching this year, this will feature new styling as well as offering enhanced practicality.

BMW is promising a host of new cars at the show. There will be updates to the 5 Series, 5 Series Touring and 5 Series GT, as well as the X5 SUV. We will also get to see the production version of the electric the BMW i8 supercar and the BMW 4 Series Coupe, which will replace the current BMW 3 series coupe.

The new Renault Megane could also make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year. With its new front re-design, this will echo the recent design direction taken by Renault with the new Renault Clio and Captur.

The new Mazda 3, the rival for the VW Golf, is also set to be at the show. It will continue Mazda's development of ultra efficient engines and gearboxes and lightweight materials, which it calls SkyActiv and already seen in the CX-5 and Mazda 6

The Seat Leon ST estate will also feature in Frankfurt as will the Fiat 500 XL, the seven-seat version of the Fiat 500L which is aimed to rival the Ford Grand C-Max.
