Skoda Superb Estate
Could this be the only car you’ll ever need? With sleek looks, a huge load space and the kind of relaxing driving experience that’s worthy of a Mercedes S-Class, the Skoda Superb Estate is about as good as all-rounders get. Ditching the five-door’s hatch/saloon boot release in favour of a conventional tailgate that boasts a low, wide opening, the Superb Estate has 633 litres of space with the rear seats in place, or a huge 1,865 litres with them folded flat.

Helpful touches include large storage bins, a variety of hooks and a load restraint system to prevent small items sliding around. The cabin is well built and has generous kit. Options include keyless entry and start, plus a two-piece panoramic glass roof. Engines are carried over from the saloon, ranging from a 1.4-litre turbo petrol to a 3.6-litre V6.

Estate models are likely to command a £1,100-£1,300 premium over the hatch when sales start next year. The entry-level version should come in
at around £17,500, which means it offers great value as well as carrying ability.
