Our appetite had been whet by the XF, so we expected a lot of Jaguar’s new flagship XJ. And when we drove it in Issue 1,104, it delivered. It successfully upscaled the XF’s face, while offering a distinctive look. Inside, the quality on show is nearly a match for a Bentley, and completing the package is sporty handling and strong V6 diesel and V8 petrol engines. But we’re not sure about the rear end – with those controversial blacked-out C-pillars – and the ride is a little firm compared to Mercedes’ S-Class. Food for thought for the big cat.
