Advanced head-up displays were once the preserve of luxury cars, but the technology is spreading. Peugeot has introduced the clever kit to family car buyers with its 5008 and 3008 models, and the new 508 has a full-colour set up. It projects information such as your speed and sat-nav directions directly into the driver’s eyeline.

According to Jeff Paterson, chief car editor at Glass’s Guide, the migration of hi-tech kit to mainstream models is a growing trend. “This is the shape of things to come,” he said. “Choose equipment like this now, and you’re future-proofing your car. It may not add a lot of value, but it will make it easier to find a buyer in years to come.”
