Some VW fans who can’t fit all of their gear into one car have taken to towing half of another one behind them. It’s surprisingly common here at Worthersee.

You’ll see plenty of keen detailing fans cleaning their cars all day, keeping them completely spotless.

Debadged cars are all over the place at Worthersee, although it’s unlikely you’ll confuse this otherwise standard Golf GTI for anything else.

Although it’s still technically in the VW Group, the Bentley wheels on this Passat aren’t exactly standard-fit.

As the town is so busy with people and cars, the traffic slows down so much that people just stop to chat with owners and fellow fans.

It’s not just crazy paint colours here at Worthersee, as owners love to cover their VWs with designs like this one as well.

This super-clean engine bay is typical of some of the cars at the GTI meet, as fans love to show off their incredibly well-loved machinery.

Some of the cars at the Worthersee event are so low they they scrape along the ground, and can’t get over certain kerbs.

Some tuning companies are offering conversions like this Audi-engined Golf, which has even been badged up as a Golf RS.

Old meets new at Worthersee - there’s a huge variety of cars starting from the original Golf from the 1970s right up to modern-day machines.

This is the most unusual car we’ve seen at this year’s show, as it features no paint job at all but rather a completely leather exterior to match the interior.

The brown leather finish was roasting hot in the sun, and we wondered how well it would stand up to less-than-perfect weather.

One of the wildest conversions we saw, this Corrado is now a widened, lowered convertible with a huge rear spoiler.

Yellow headlights are a popular modification, but these blue wheels are somewhat unusual even at Worthersee.

This Revo Audi TTRS looks dirty, but it’s actually a feature of the paint job.

Owners park up wherever they can - this Corrado was tucked up in somebody’s front garden.

VW fandom doesn’t get bigger than the Worthersee meet, and owners appear keen to show that they are the biggest fan.

Lots of cars at the event are stickered up to show where they’ve been.

This VW Lupo has been heavily modified - it’s debadged, lowered and even has scissor doors.

Rusted ‘rat-look’ bonnets are all the rage, as it’s a cheap way to make your car stand out.

While Lamborghini is part of the VW Group, this event is all about the VW brand itself - so the cars don’t get too much attention.

An unusual Golf with a war-themed livery is parked up on one of the locals’ front lawn.

As the fans make their way to their parking spaces, they’re more than happy to have their photo taken with their pride and joy.

We’re not sure where this camouflage is supposed to work, but we doubt the Audi will ever blend into the background.

This sticker effect is seen often on bonnets but we were surprised to see it applied to some alloy wheels.
