The success of the Nissan Qashqai knows no bounds. Last year was a record year for sales despite the fact it’s been around since 2007. Mind you, it’s easy to see why, because the high-riding family car represents great value, looks stylish and drives well.
On the outside its contemporary styling gave birth to a whole new sector of the market and it hasn’t dated. Interior quality is no match for the likes of the Skoda Yeti but you won’t care about some of the cheap surfaces once you've seen how much kit you’ve got to play with. Models fitted with the Nissan Connect system are perfectly equipped for the 21st Century with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, as well as integrated sat-nav.
Spacious back seats and a decent 410-litre boot ensure the Nissan is a genuine alternative to a conventional small family hatch. Diesel models are the most appealing thanks to their performance and economy, while +2 models feature an extended body and an extra row of occasional rear seats that fold into the boot floor.
