Thule Ranger 90

If storage away from the car is a problem, Thule’s Ranger 90 soft bag is a reasonable solution.

Best price: £239.95

If storage away from the car is a problem, Thule’s Ranger 90 soft bag is a reasonable solution. Made of a tarpaulin-style waterproof material, it attaches to standard or aero roof bars via the same fixtures as the Exodus 470L. At only 7kg, it’s also easier for a single person to fit. It’s not as aerodynamic or stylish as a regular roof box and the hidden padlock doesn’t inspire confidence in security. Plus, it has a maximum load capacity of 50kg; all the roof boxes offer 75kg.
