Bose Premium Surround Sound

This system has the most unusually sited tweeters – two in each seat, at shoulder height

This system has the most unusually sited tweeters – two in each seat, at shoulder height. If Bose aimed to integrate the tweeters’ sound into the whole mix, it’s succeeded. But we’re surprised they aren’t more noticeable – you have to listen closely to check they’re working. And there’s none of the detail of the high-frequency ranges in the Meridian or B&Osystems’: they tend to blur into the mid-range.

What does stand out is the power of the bass. In true Bose style it’s what this system does best, with a sound clearly aimed at the bass-loving US market. The set-up has good pace, but there are few highlights. The sound is pleasant, but other than the system’s ability to shake the rear view mirror when you turn it up, it’s distinctly average.

Zip-merging is fairer, faster and recommended by all the experts. So why do UK drivers refuse to do it?

Steve Walker is completely flummoxed as to why UK drivers can’t get their heads around this simple principle.
