The new 2016 Range Rover Evoque is coming: here are its lights

Land Rover 'teases' the updated Evoque SUV, with new JLR Ingenium engines, interior updates and LED headlamps

Range Rover Evoque 2016 teaser

Land Rover has released a teaser image showing a forthcoming makeover of the Range Rover Evoque - but it doesn't give much away! The updated model will be unveiled at next month's Geneva Motor Show, and the firm has told us the style-driven SUV will be the first in its range to get adaptive full-LED headlamps.

The British 4x4-maker also announced a new engine lineup for the Audi Q3 rival, revealing that the new Evoque will use Jaguar Land Rover's new generation of Ingenium powerplants. From launch the current 2.2-litre diesel engine will be replaced by the all-new 2.0-litre unit from the Jaguar XE, tuned in various power outputs, while a new turbocharged petrol engine may appear later.

Other Evoque revisions will include an enhanced interior and new active safety tech to bring it into line with rivals. Land Rover Design Director Gerry McGovern said of facelifting the SUV "Our challenge has been to enhance Evoque without diluting its iconic design". The revisions are meant to "give it an even greater presence" yet keep the trademark profile and style.

Recently we've learned that Land Rover will put a convertible Evoque into production by the end of 2015, marking the end of three years of internal debate about whether there is a market for the drop-top SUV.

The Evoque has been Land Rover's most successful model to date, with the firm shifting over 400,000 units worldwide since it began production in 2011. We expect more details on the Evoque and its convertible derivative to be released in the weeks prior to the debut at Geneva on 3rd of March.

Now read our full review on the Evoque's sister vehicle, the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
