MG5 revealed
First official pictures of the new Ford Focus rival, due on sale in the UK in late 2013
This is the new MG5 – a rival to the Ford Focus that goes on sale in the UK late next year.
As you can see it's a striking looking five-door hatchback with dramatic headlights and head-turning creases down the wings.
There is little in the way of official information on the new car, but the Chinese market model which goes on sale very soon will have a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 107bhp.
In the UK the engine range will grow to include a diesel, while there could even be a hot turbocharged petrol version, using the same 1.8-litre turbocharged engine with 158bhp that's found in the MG6.
Like the larger MG6, the MG5 will be tuned for UK roads, with different suspension settings while it will also get a more upmarket interior trim.
While MG fans will have to wait until the end of 2013 for the MG5, a Ford Fiesta-sized MG3 will launch early next year.
