These popular new car models have huge savings on their recommended retail prices in our big spring sale event
It probably hasn’t escaped your notice that new cars have got pretty expensive in recent years. The Kia Sportage is a regular in the UK best-sellers list – it’s pretty much the go-to vehicle for British families and its edgy styling is a familiar sight on the roads. It’s spacious and refined, and has a good roster of standard equipment too, while its infotainment feels up-to-date and turns out to be pretty easy to use. Sporty it ain’t, despite what some of the trim levels might suggest, but you do get strong performance from the hybrids especially. Deals of up to £3,800 off RRP take the sting out of some of the higher-priced variants, too.

Nissan Juke – Discounts up to £5,400 off
There wasn’t much toning down when Nissan introduced the second-generation Juke in 2019 – this small SUV is just as boldly styled as its predecessor. Some will hate it, but others will love it, and those in the latter camp will like it even more when they discover there are savings of more than £5,000 to be made in some Juke variants in the spring sale. That’s a steal on a car that isn’t badly priced to begin with, thanks to its generous equipment levels, and the Juke has sporty handling in its favour too, if you don’t mind a sporty ride to match.

That’s Seal U, rather than Seal - a little confusing perhaps, but while the Seal is BYD’s sleek-looking Tesla Model 3 rival, the Seal U is a family SUV – and a plug-in hybrid one at that, rather than a pure electric car. It’s not a car that’ll wow you with how it drives, but the space, plug-in range of up to 78 miles, and high levels of standard equipment might sway you – especially when you can save another £2,100 from the recommended retail price in the spring sale.

MG4 – Discounts up to £9,000 off
The MG4 has only been around for three years but it’s made a big impact: this Ford Focus-sized family EV performs well and goes a good distance on a charge – up to 323 miles in Extended Range models. It’s good to drive too, feeling more agile than most of its peers. One of the reasons you see so many on the road is its excellent value, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be even better. With ten grand off, that makes the MG4 cheaper than most brand new superminis, let alone similarly-sized EVs.

Nissan Qashqai – Discounts of up to £4,000
While it’s not knocking on the door of being the UK’s top-seller any more, the Nissan Qashqai is still just about the default family car. It’s big enough to cover the needs of most families but small enough to park, doesn’t guzzle fuel at an inconvenient rate, and doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t – Nissan’s avoided the temptation of firming everything up to make it feel artificially sporty, so it’s a comfortable and refined cruiser. The Vauxhall Corsa became Britain’s favourite supermini even before the Ford Fiesta said its final goodbye. It isn’t hard to see why: under the smart styling is a fine-driving car with a range of frugal petrol and mild-hybrid petrol engines – and an electric variant for those who want an even smoother and lower-cost driving experience. Ford Kuga – Discounts up to £3,800
If family life demands an SUV but you don’t want to lose the keen dynamics of a Focus, then the Ford Kuga is the car to get. It does all the straightforward SUV stuff quite nicely indeed, with decent interior space and a usefully-sized boot, while Ford has given it a heated windscreen as standard, which still isn’t a common feature elsewhere in the market despite its usefulness. A slightly firm ride is a hint at what else the Kuga does well though – it’s quite fun to drive.
