Mercedes Style Edition Garia golf cart brings luxury to the course

Mercedes join forces with golf cart maker Garia to produce the luxurious Style Edition golf cart

You might think that the Smart Fortwo is the smallest vehicle Mercedes can produce, but you’d be wrong. Now the prestige manufacturer has teamed up with golf cart maker Garia to create the Mercedes-Benz Style Edition Garia, a luxurious take on getting around the golf course.

Looking a lot like a Smart Fortwo with its doors lopped off, the Style Edition is actually mechanically identical to any other golf cart Garia produces. That means it’s propelled by an electric motor with 14bhp, providing a top speed of just 18.6mph. Overall range is 49.7 miles – enough for several rounds of golf! The electric powertrain ensures that it's very 'green', too.

Smart Fortwo Cabrio review

Up front, the dimpled grille is inspired by golf balls, flanked by LED headlights. Posh alloy wheels add to the sporty look, while it’s finished off by a carbon fibre roof, diffuser and rear spoiler.

Unlike most golf carts, though, the Style Edition Garia is rather well equipped inside – in fact, it puts many passenger cars to shame with its leather, wood and carbon-fibre interior. A 10.1-inch infotainment screen is larger than most Mercedes’ luxurious cars, and allows the driver to check the layout of the golf course, current score, weather and vehicle information – as well as ordering refreshments for delivery.

And when those refreshments are delivered, they can be kept cold in the refridgerator hidden under the bench seat.

While the Mercedes-Benz Style Edition Garia is just a concept for now, it’s been hinted that a production model could be built if there’s enough demand.
