MINI reveals new John Cooper Works tuning options

New tuning package for Cooper S and new styling tweaks add to huge MINI customisation catalogue

MINI has introduced a number of new John Cooper Works accessories and options, including styling tweaks and a new tuning kit for Cooper S models.

Alongside the John Cooper Works aero pack and front and rear spoilers are styling tweaks including new carbon exterior mirror caps, a carbon-fibre finish on the air inlet and exhaust tips, plus a big selection of new decals. A handful of new alloy wheels designs are available too, in 17-inch and 18-inch sizes.

In the cabin a new John Cooper Works leather sports steering wheel appears, alongside a gearshift knob finished in leather and chrome. Plenty of minor accessories also get the JWC treatment, and there’s also the option of LED illuminated doorsills.

Interestingly, a new tuning pack has been inserted into the JWC line-up. The pack is available on Cooper S models and takes power up from 189bhp to 208bhp. Bundled alongside it is a new flap exhaust system with ‘Sport’ and ‘Track’ settings if you want to dial up the volume. All of the parts – both styling tweaks and performance upgrades - can be retrofitted or equipped directly onto a new model from the factory.

At £1,760 the new performance pack is a pricey upgrade, and it can’t match the 228bhp you’ll find in the full John Cooper Works edition Cooper S. The latest version is MINI’s hottest hatchback ever, capable of 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 153mph.

Is the Cooper S John Cooper Works a serious hot hatch contender? Let us know your thoughts...
