Golf next to join the coupé club?

Coupé version of Golf provides cheaper alternative to Audi A5 Sportback and Mercedes CLS.

The Golf is stretching its appeal! Our sources have revealed VW is considering a coupé variant, badged the Golf CC, to join the new MkVII line-up. And our illustrations show how the premium model will look. Similar to the larger Passat CC, the Golf would provide a downsized alternative to a rash of four-door coupés, which include Audi’s A5 Sportback, forthcoming A7 and Mercedes’ CLS.

Despite its saloon-like styling, the Golf CC will have a hatchback and folding rear seats to maximise practicality. The interior will feature more premium materials, too, distancing it from the cheaper hatchback version. Whereas the MkVII hatch has been slated for a 2012 debut, the Golf CC won’t make it to showrooms until two years later.

Insecurity

The German manufacturers must be a very insecure lot, as they attempt to plug every single gap in the market, with multiple variants of every model.

I think the only areas left to explore are amphibious Golfs, tracked Audis and Flying BMW's. Watch this space.

A Golf with a boot that looks like a Passat CC.
If I drove this car I would NOT be telling people I had a 'coupe'.

Another Golf Coupe?

I thought the Scirocco was a Golf Coupe?
This thing looks terrible! It's really not a coupe and it's really not a Golf.
I just don't understand how anybody would buy this over the Scirocco or the Golf.

VW are becoming japenese in their vehicle evolution. This so called coupe is a retrograde step into the world of marketing above all else. Next thing we will have VW cars engineered by accountants.

Agggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

Not another frickin 4-door coupé!!

It's can't be a coupé as it has 4 doors! When did the term get changed, just because a few motor companies decided to create yet another bodystyle?

Besides what is the actual point of this car? You need something bigger than a Golf, you buy a Passat (they even make a 4-door "coupé" of that too!!) or something sportier then you buy the Scirocco. But even then the fastest Golf is faster than the fastest Scirocco.... Oh what's the point, too many different product sectors that all trip over each other.

For the best looking 4 door car on the market look no further than the 159.
How can anybody put this garbage next to the 159 and think....hmmm that looks good?
