The rear styling is lightly compromised by its novel configuration, but from the front it has an imposing presence. Inside you get the usual Skoda mix of Volkswagen-derived switchgear. The cabin looks good and features high quality trim, but the amount of kit and space on offer is what gets the Skoda noticed.
Rear passengers are treated to limousine levels of legroom and the gigantic boot swallows 595 litres of luggage (the more handsome Estate is even more practical). Mid-range SE trim covers all of the essentials, but Elegance trim is comprehensively equipped, with leather seats, climate control and Xenon headlamps all standard.
Prices are competitive, but CO2 emissions from its range of excellent engines are not, so company car drivers will pay for the privilege of choosing one of the best family cars in the business – unless, that is, they pick the modest 104bhp 1.6 TDI GreenLine version.
