Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4

World’s first production diesel electric hybrid to debut in the spring, emits 99g/km

Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4

As well as the Electric Car Subsidy, another emissions-cutting innovation comes from Peugeot, this time in the shape of a new hybrid. Until now, models sold by rival manufacturers have used petrol-electric drivetrains, but Peugeot will launch the world’s first diesel hybrid in its 3008 crossover. That will give the car official fuel consumption of 74.4mpg and emissions of 99g/km, which means road tax is free.

Badged HYbrid4, the car has a combined power output of 200bhp and is 4WD; 163bhp is from the 2.0-litre HDi diesel driving the front axle, with the other 37bhp from the electric motor on the rear.

Added eco features include a stop-start mode and the ability to run on electric power alone for a limited range. Expect a price tag of around £24,000.
