Bloodhound SSC

Although not set to run in 2011, the 1000mph Bloodhound will be ready by the end of the year

Bloodhound SSC

The Land Speed Record challenger leaves the drawing board in 2011, with the 12-month build programme due to start in January. Parts for the 1,000mph car are being developed by suppliers all over the UK, but final assembly will take place at the team’s HQ in Bristol Docks.

Also slated for early 2011 is testing of the Cosworth Formula One engine that will power the rocket engine’s fuel pump. Led by Richard Noble and Andy Green, runs are scheduled to begin in the Hakskeenpan desert in South Africa from mid-2012.
