Towing
Towing
If you own a caravan or tow a trailer regularly, you’ll need a tow bar. Specialists are often the first port of call for this practical kit, but makers are increasingly offering their own alternatives.
Land Rover sells a neatly integrated design for the Discovery 4 for £510. That’s typically more than you’ll pay for an aftermarket hitch, but these set-ups are backed by
a manufacturer warranty and usually designed for easy removal and stowage.
The sight of a tow bar will set alarm bells ringing in a used buyer’s head, though,
as it hints at extra wear to the clutch, gearbox and brakes.
