New track-only Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 special edition launched

The hardcore Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 celebrates Manthey-Racing’s 25th anniversary

Porsche has unveiled an extensively modified, track-only version of its 911 GT2 RS. Called the Clubsport 25, the special edition has been built to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Manthey Racing - a Porsche-owned race team that competes with GT3 and GTE-spec 911s.

Based on the outgoing 991-generation model, the Clubsport 25 takes the already blistering performance of the GT2 RS to new heights, with a selection of bespoke mechanical and aero upgrades.

The 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six motor is unchanged from the base car, and sends 690bhp to the rear wheels through a seven-speed PDK gearbox. However, the rest of the car has received a comprehensive going-over, starting with a reworked aero package.

The front end of the Clubsport 25 has been completely redesigned for improved cooling and added downforce. The front bumper features a large carbon fibre splitter and canards for more aero grip, while a centrally mounted radiator provides better engine cooling.

This setup also allows the removal of two radiators either side of the front grille, which make way for brake cooling ducts. Deep bonnet vents, inspired by Manthey’s GT3 R racer, help channel hot air over the roof and to the rear wing, and a small central NACA duct provides cabin ventilation. High-power racing headlamps also feature.

Elsewhere, large vertical openings behind the front wheels extract high-pressure air for extra downforce, and aero-optimised carbon fibre door mirrors have been borrowed from the GT3 R. The side vents ahead of the rear arches have been split into a two-part air inlet, and the wheel arches have grown to accommodate a wider track.

At the rear, the GT2 RS Clubsport 25 adopts a new, larger rear wing with ‘swan-neck’ supports, as found on the latest GT3. The rear deck now features a wide, hooded ducktail and additional air vents, which improve airflow around the engine bay.

The lower bumper has also been extended with a redesigned diffuser and a new exhaust system, which features centralised shotgun tailpipes. A rain light, borrowed from the 992 GT3 Cup car, has been integrated into the rear bumper.

The paint scheme of the car is inspired by Manthey’s GT3 R machine, with a smattering of green accents drawing from the green and yellow livery of its race-winning counterpart.

Under the skin, the GT2 RS Clubsport 25 shares suspension components with Porsche’s 935 tribute car, also based on a GT2 RS. Centre lock racing wheels have also been fitted, along with the 935’s electronic control systems, carbon fibre steering wheel and an FIA-spec roll cage.

The Clubsport 25 special edition is limited to just 30 units, each priced from €525,000 - equivalent at current exchange rates to a price of around £447,000.
