Car Deal of the Day: Baby Skoda Epiq arrives with tiny sub-£230-a-month price

Baby brother to the award-winning Elroq, the Skoda Epiq was only revealed to the world in May and we’ve driven no more than a prototype version so far. But deals are already rolling in for this new small electric SUV.
Through the Auto Express Buy A Car service, VehicleFlex is offering the Epiq for a mere £228.22 a month on a two-year term after a £3,037.39 12-month initial payment, with mileage capped at 5,000 a year.
Tweaking the deal still gives good value; a nine-month initial payment comes in at £2,557.19 followed by £250.93 a month, while bumping up the mileage allowance to 8,000 can be done for under £10 a month on both nine and 12-month initial payment options.
The Epiq is the all-electric alternative to the strong-selling petrol-powered Kamiq. It's a Renault 4 and Kia EV2 rival, and brings much of the tech and thoughtful touches usually found in the larger Elroq and Enyaq but in a smaller package.
This deal gets you the entry-level SE L 55 model. It's powered by a 51.7kWh (usable) battery pack, giving a claimed range of 272 miles, with a 10-80 per cent charge time of 23 minutes thanks to a maximum DC charging rate of 133kW.
Performance is brisk for such a small car – a 208bhp motor powers the front wheels, allowing a 0-62mph sprint time of 7.4 seconds.
In traditional Skoda style, SE L trim is very equipped. Standard kit includes 18-inch alloys, a 13-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting and predictive adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, along with practical touches including a variable boot floor.
