Toyota launches suite of updates for 2022 Corolla and C-HR

Toyota Corolla and C-HR gain a new infotainment system, some extra paint options and fresh trim

Toyota has released a range of updates for the 2022 model year versions of the Corolla hatchback and the C-HR crossover, which the company hopes will keep the cars competitive with the likes of the Ford Focus and the SEAT Ateca.

From next year, the Corolla and the C-HR will both be available with Toyota’s new eight-inch infotainment system, which the company says is 2.4 times faster than its current system. It’ll come as standard on all specifications except the entry-level Icon model.

The new infotainment system adds a host of connected services, such as live traffic updates, live parking information and fixed speed camera locations. Natural voice control also features, and over-the-air software updates have been added as part of the upgrade.

Tweaks for the Corolla include a set of new 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels and an updated colour palette, which now features Platinum White Pearl and Silver Metallic choices. Both new paint options can also be specified with a black roof on the hatchback model.

Toyota has also chosen to extend its partnership with the American bicycle manufacturer Trek, meaning the rough-and-tough Corolla Touring Sport Trek Special Edition will be on sale for another year. However, for its 2022 model year, the Corolla Trek will only be available with Toyota’s 178bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain.

Upgrades over the standard Corolla estate include 18-inch alloy wheels, rugged black plastic body cladding, chrome door window frames and rear privacy glass. The car’s ride-height has also been raised by 20mm, while the cabin gets black leather upholstery, piano black door handles and new satin chrome trim for the gauge cluster and door cards.

The 2022 C-HR gets some fresh 18-inch alloy wheels and new Deep Amethyst paint colour, which can be specified in a two-tone finish on the GR Sport specification. The seats have also been retrimmed in a new blend of gunmetal-coloured fabric and leather upholstery.
