The Budget
March is when we find out if the price of road-tax and fuel will be going up or down
D-day for drivers will be 23 March, and given the precarious state of the nation’s finances, the 2011 Budget will be an interesting one. Duty on petrol and diesel is sure to play a key part; the Conservatives’ pre-election promise of a Fair Fuel Stabiliser, where the tax element went up or down depending on the price of oil, could materialise.
Changes to road tax to better reflect the growth in eco-friendly cars are also a possibility.
Whatever happens, drivers will be keen to see if the Tories can live up to their Election promise to be a ‘friend to the motorist’ while in the Lib Dem Coalition.
