The wraps recently came off the brand- new BMW 7 Series, Volkswagen ID. Polo and Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric, but deliveries won’t start for a few months, so how about excellent alternatives you can buy right now? Head over to the Auto Express Buy a Car service, and you can find fantastic deals on efficient, small electric cars, luxurious limos and posh SUVs.

We’ve done just that and think the three cars we’ve picked fill the same brief as those new offerings – and at surprisingly attractive prices.

Bentley Flying Spur - £31,795

While there are plenty of BMW 7 Series on our Buy a Car service, we’ve gone upmarket and picked a car with real presence – the Bentley Flying Spur.

These days, Bentleys from the early 2000s can be found for very little money, but this Flying Spur benefits from a raft of changes that came after 2013. A range of 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engines joined the line-up, but this car has a 6.0-litre W12. With a hearty 616bhp and 800Nm of torque, it will accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds.

Plus there are all the things that set Bentley apart from more mainstream manufacturers: deep-pile wool carpet, walnut wood veneer, leather headlining and even a Breitling clock.

Porsche Cayenne - £18,490

The Porsche Cayenne was pivotal for the sports car brand, showing that the maker could apply its skills to very different market segments. We’ve found an ‘entry-level’ model, but that term seems inappropriate.

First up, its 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine is a peach, with proper punch from the 580Nm of torque. Plus the Cayenne sits on the same platform as the Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7, but gets its own set-up and drives more keenly than the other two – and most other SUVs for that matter.

As for the sensible stuff, the Cayenne also has a huge 618-litre boot, acres of space inside and lots of handy kit such as heated seats, an electrically operated sunroof and a Bose sound system.

Volkswagen e-up! - £8,901

The Volkswagen ID. Polo is generating a lot of interest and it’s easy to see why. The more traditional VW styling cues and competitive electric performance should stand it in good stead against the Renault 5.

But thanks to the e-up!, if you don’t need as much space or range as the new ID. Polo offers, you could bag a charming, well built little EV with just over 20,000 miles on the clock for well under £10,000.

With the Bentley and Porsche for long-distance trips, there’s also room for an urban runabout in our garage – and the e-up! is a great option.

Is this Volkswagen e-up! the one that got away? Don't worry, there are more to be found through Auto Express Buy a Car service...
