Car Deal of the Day: Peugeot 208 GT is a superb supermini for £167 a month
Chic French model is one of the most appealing superminis on the road. And at just under £170 a month, it’s out Deal of the Day for 8 August

Peugeot has a long, illustrious history of building excellent small cars, so it’s no surprise that the current 208 is one of the best superminis you can buy today.
The 208 shares its underpinnings with the Vauxhall Corsa, but Peugeot has given it a posher feel both inside and out – and as this amazing deal from Milease Peugeot through the Auto Express Buy A Car service shows, it doesn’t come with a premium price tag.
At present, you can pick up the 208 for just £167 a month with only a £1,810 initial outlay. This two-year deal incorporates a 5,000-mile annual limit, but for only £13 extra a month you can extend that to 8,000 miles. Also, if you want to lower that initial payment to £1,418, then it’ll only cost an additional £19 a month.
So what do you get for your money? Well, it’s the higher-spec GT trim on offer here, so the 208 really looks the part. There are 17-inch diamond-cut wheels, a contrasting black roof and rear spoiler, LED lights front and rear with Peugeot’s distinctive ‘three claw’ signature, plus a Visibility Pack which includes ‘follow me home’ lights – great for those dark winter months.
The interior really helps the 208 standard out, not only from its Vauxhall sibling, but from the entire supermini segment. The GT comes with customisable ambient lighting, a GT-badged, perforated steering wheel, faux leather and cloth upholstery with green stitching and carbon effect trim across the dash.
There’s also Peugeot’s innovative i-Cockpit set up, which features twin 10-inch screens, with the driver’s display sitting above a small steering wheel that provides a more manoeuvrable feel and improved visibility. Space in the cabin is decent for a supermini, while the 352-litre boot capacity is among the best in this class.
Previously the 208 was offered with a 75bhp petrol engine, but the range has now been bolstered by a 100bhp unit which is far better suited to the car. It’s still not the quickest, but the little Peugeot drives well, is surprisingly composed on the motorway and offers excellent efficiency – expect to average over 55mpg.
