Striking Lincoln MKC SUV previews a luxury version of the Ford Kuga for the US and Chinese markets

The Lincoln MKC concept, a luxury version of the Ford Kuga, has been unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show.

The Lincoln MKC concept is based closely on the US version of the Kuga - called the Escape - and is aimed at reinvigorating Ford’s luxury brand, which has seen sales slide in recent years.

Although only a concept, the MKC is believed to be very close to the model which will make production later this year.

The Kuga’s front and rear are heavily restyled on the MKC, with a split wing grille which is said to hark back to a Lincoln of the thirties, the Zephyr.

The MKC is also longer than the Kuga (4554mm vs 4523mm) and wider too (1,933mm rather than 1,839mm).

A panoramic roof and full-length centre console add some wow factor to the cabin.

Lincoln does not sell cars in the UK, but has targeted China as a key market for growth and will launch there in 2014. The MKC is not its only reworked Ford – the MKZ saloon is its version of the Mondeo.

Yet another stinker!

Wow it's 31mm longer than the Ford Escape, if Lincoln reduced those huge great stick out big ears wing mirrors, it might be the same size as an Escape. Big stick out wing mirrors make the Lincoln bigger and better?

US car buyers are not stupid, they will buy the cheap excellent value for money Ford Escape, rather than an overpriced Lincoln Escape with the most ugly front end ever seen on an SUV ever. Lincoln need to look at Skoda who have the same sort of grilles they are much more tastefully done.

Whole of the US cars sales market is booming, Lincoln are one of few with big drop off in sales, not hard to see why with this appalling overpriced Ford Escape that looks absolutely dreadful. Lincoln brand will continue to lose billions with huge drop in sales, Lincoln will continue to be a money pit at Ford, as long as they want pump money into a dead loss Ford overpriced car. May join Mercury in the scrapyard of failed brands sooner rather than later, it is a sin that Lincoln don't have a RWD car in their line-up, that probably why RWD BMW are No1 and RWD Mercedes Benz are No1 and No2 best selling brands Stateside.

This Lincoln is an expensive joke, best go and buy a nice better value for money better looking Ford Escape.

A QUALITY LOOKING FRESH NEW DESIGN BOLD IN & OUT, APART FROM THE UGLY GRILL HEADLIGHTS DASHBOARD & STEERING WHEEL, BUT THAT SAID IT IS A CONCEPT THE FINAL PRODUCTION CAR WILL PROBABLY HAVE LOTS OF COST SAVING PARTS ON IT.

This is not a "version" of the Kuga/Escape, nor is the MKZ a version of the Mondeo/Fusion, since they share no visible body parts; these two Lincolns have completely different designs and interiors than their Ford counterparts. Well, that is, they're only "versions" if you count the Audi A3 as a "version" of the VW Golf.
